Pictures of Giant Crystal Cave, Naica, Mexico: Mine

This is real....as in there is actually a cave in Mexico where crystals have been growing for millions of years and reached 36 feet.
I know, ridiculous.

Inspiration: Pablo Ferro

I was watching Dr. Strangelove and was stuck on the title sequence which I had never paid too much attention to.

Within a couple of minutes I found out it was Pablo Ferro (never heard of him before) who was responsible for Dr. Strangelove and a ton of other movie titles: Beetlejuice, Psycho, and yes, even Dr. Dolittle and Men in Black (1 and 2). I really like the internet.

Work in Progress: Too Much Time on the Computer

I've been wasting a lot of time on the computer...but I guess there is a plus side to that. I've been finding some crazy artists/illustrators through flickr.
Here are just a couple of them:

Mia Christopher

horse_jackteagle by Jack Teagle.

Work in Progress: Not Much Yet

I'm already tired from all of the work this semester, but I found these book covers pretty motivating:
Plenty more Signet Classic book covers here.

Inspiration: Julien Pacaud

He does the best digital collages. It was hard to pick favorites since they're all so incredible.
The colors....

Inspiration: Just Because

There's three of these and each one is better than the last.
It's supposed to be a way of getting information to the masses.

Inspiration: Dali

I've never really been a big fan of Dali...like at all. But recently I saw these later works he did and I'm kind of into it. They've got this crazy cosmic/religious feeling that's pretty incredible. I think I admire them because I could never have the patience to do something like them myself.

Dali's video collaborations with Alfred Hitchcock and Disney are also great...and weird.

Inspiration: Pulp Fiction

Pulp fiction covers from the 1930's to 1950's are the best.
Sometimes the actual writing was done after the illustrations because they were that good.
(Thanks History of Illustration)
